Stay at Home restrictions lifted in favor of aggressive mitigation
Large gatherings of more than 25 people prohibited
Child Care open with workers and building safety restrictions
Telework must continue where feasible
After careful consideration of the current guidelines of the Center for Disease Control, state and county health departments, and the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church, Lehman Church had developed a Reopening Plan for all facets of the church. Here are some of the highlights:
While some churches may consider opening during the yellow phase, given our large congregational size and limits on numbers who may gather, we will NOT be opening for worship or large gatherings while in the yellow phase. We will continue to offer livestream worship services.
Small Group Gatherings: (Less than 25 people)
Small groups may meet in the church for the purpose of committee meetings, Bible Study, or for life rituals such as weddings and funerals. These meetings will be approved on a case-by-case basis. It must be assured that social distancing is practiced and facemasks are worn during these gatherings. The room size must be large enough so these distances may be maintained. Room usage must be designated so proper sanitizing can take place after the meeting. Groups should not enter any areas or rooms other than the one they have been assigned. Attendance, including contact information, must be taken at every meeting in case we should require COVID-19 contact tracing.
Regular office functions will resume with precautions of social distancing in place. Persons entering the church must wear a mask.
Cleaning and Sanitization of the Church Building:
As our church reopens slowly it will become essential that proper protocols are followed for cleaning the church between group uses. Hand sanitizing stations will be provided at entrances and the use of masks will be required. A cleaning protocol for the custodial staff, following CDC and EPA guidelines, has been developed for the church.
General Responsibilities of Persons Entering the Church:
No one may enter the church property if they are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or have experienced symptoms within the last 72 hours. Symptoms include, but are not limited to: Chills, fever, shortness of breath, dry cough, and loss of taste and/or smell.
No one may enter the church if they have been in contact with someone who is either presumed or tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 14 days.
All individuals who enter the church must comply with mask wearing, maintaining 6 feet of distance between themselves, and avoiding contact (handshaking, hugging, etc).
We understand that some of these changes to our church experience may not be challenging. However, this plan is in place to ensure the continued health and safety of our Church. With God’s help we will continue to proclaim our faith and work to make disciples of Jesus Christ, with our hearts and minds focused on best practices that provide for health and safety for all. As long and arduous this quarantine has been, so many have coped with a spirit of love, protection and care for each other. We will get through this!
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call or email Karen Douglass, Parish Nurse, or one of the pastors.
